The inaugural Scoil Samhraidh an Dr. Seán Ó Nualláin Held in memory of the late Wexford academic which aimed to continue his vision of establishing an annual gathering where artists, scientists and scholars could come together and use the Irish language to exchange ideas has been hailed as a great success.
Earlier this month more than 100 people attended various events throughout the county coming from as far afield as California, Scotland and France.
The summer school’s programme featured a varied series of lectures and talks, as well as a special concert featuring Melanie O’Reilly’s Gaelic Jazz Group, Breton musician Brewen Favrau, James Patrick Gavin, Alice Wickham and James McIntyre, honouring the musical legacy of Dr. Seán Ó Nualláin
The organisers said they would like to extend their sincere thanks to all of the speakers and guests, including Professor Ruairí Brugha, Professor Des O’Neill, Brian Ó Cléirigh, Dr. Ronan O’Flaherty, Dr. Éamon Ó Ciosáin, Tom Conway and Cynthia Sue Larson.
