Shane Lowry’s work on the greens this week has been nothing short of flawless. He almost sank a 39-footer for birdie. It gets even better for the Offaly man as Skov Olesen falls six behind (-11) with a bogey.

Shane Lowry has made a dream start to day four andlooks to be in the zone here. A wonderful 349-yard drive off the tee set him up to find the green with his second. The 39-year-old drains a 16-footer for birdie to the delight of the gallery.
His playing partner and nearest pursuer Skov Olsen falls a further shot behind, undercooking his putt by mere inches. That sees Lowry move five clear on 17-under with the Dane on 12-under. Greenside bunker trouble makes it a difficult start to day four on Doonbeg for Tom McKibbin. His attempted putt from 9-foot came up just short on the soft greens. Bogey it is for the County Down man.

Another Irishman well in contention for the Irish Open title is Tom McKibbin. He tees off at 13:45 time alongside Ross Fisher of England. The 23-year-old finds himself nine strokes off the leader Shane Lowry (-16).

Liam Nolan cuts a slightly frustrated figure as he makes his way to the sixth tee box. The 26-year-old Irish Open debutante produced a birdie on the par-four third, but encountered difficulties thereafter.
Twice finding the native area from his drives on the 4th- and 5th-hole and eventually made the greens where he was forced to tap in for back-to-back bogeys. Well, it wasn’t enough to reclaim the Waterford Crystal vase after his 2025 triumph, but Rory McIlroy saved his best round for last today. He heads for the clubhouse with a 4-under round of 67 but remains on 1-under overall.

Although too far down the pecking order to reclaim the Irish Open title, Rory McIlroy made a bright start to day four in Doonbeg. Currently, he is back to 1-under as he takes on the penultimate hole on 17.
The County Down native managed three birdies on the front nine, but the back nine hasn’t been so kind. Well, it all boils down to Sunday here in Doonbeg. Rory McIlroy’s bid at glory on home soil may be over, but Tom McKibbin and Shane Lowry can still dream of hoisting that Waterford Crystal trophy into the sky in County Clare.
After yesterday’s stunning round of 65 and a clinic in putting on the back nine, Shane Lowry tees off 2:05pm, with Tom McKibbin starting slightly earlier around 1:14pm.
Despite yesterday’s poor innings, a resurgent Rory McIlroy teed off this morning at 9:20am, while and Liam Nolan has also just begun his final round.

Wow, what a thrilling day of action in Doonbeg. Day three may not have gone to plan for Rory McIlroy, but the same can’t be said for Tom McKibbin and Shane Lowry. Both Irish golfers are well in contention going into Sunday.
McKibbin carded a 68 which leaves him in a tie for fourth-place on 8-under, while some sensational putting from Lowry on the back nine set him up for a 65 and push his lead out to 16-under.
We will be back tomorrow to see if the Offaly native can hold his nerve on the final day with Denmark’s Jacob Skov Olesen (-12) breathing down his neck.
