Meister had been involved in a clash of heads moments earlier during the early exchanges of the second half.

There was silence around Pride Park as the 22-year-old Dane was attended to by medical staff before being carried off down the tunnel.

Meister was making his first home start for John Eustace’s side after being handed his debut in a 3-0 Championship defeat at West Ham last weekend.

He was given a standing ovation by both sets of fans.
