DAVID Lammy is being urged to be Labour’s candidate for London Mayor after he was sacked as deputy PM.
Labour insiders said they have launched a campaign to “woo” the former Foreign Secretary to take a tilt at City Hall.
It comes amid a growing expectation that Labour London Mayor Sadiq Khan will not stand for a fourth term in 2028.
The race for London City Hall is already heating up.
Tory former Cabinet minister James Cleverly has announced he wants to be the Tory candidate.
Laila Cunningham is running for Reform UK.

A senior Labour Party figure said: “There is a concerted campaign to woo David Lammy to run.
“He would stand a real chance of winning.
“Currently the main person pushing herself is Dawn Butler – but she wouldn’t stand a chance.”
Mr Lammy was Sir Keir Starmer’s deputy PM.
