TWO children have been rushed to hospital after a fairground ride “malfunctioned” with a woman also being injured.
Emergency services were called to Blyth Road fields in Maltby, near Rotherham, South Yorkshire, at around 7.30pm on September 11 after reports a ride had “malfunctioned” at the Maltby Crags Fair.
Police have now confirmed two children and a 21-year-old woman have been taken to hosrpital.
A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Emergency services are currently in attendance at an incident at Maltby Crags Fair in Rotherham after two young people, aged 11 and 13, and a 21-year-old woman was injured while on a ride.
“They have been taken to hospital for treatment and the fairground has now closed for the evening (11 September).
“Blyth Lane was closed between Muglet Lane and Victoria Road to allow people to safely exit the fairground but has since been reopened.”

Posting on social media, one local has said the “malfunction” involved a car coming off the track of the ride before crashing into another.
She wrote: “A car came off the track, and another one crashed into it.”
She said a number of people had fallen from the ride and at least two boys had been injured.
Maltby Crags Funfair, presented by J Holmes & Sons, has been running in Maltby since September 9.

It is due to operate all weekend between 5pm and 9pm, but it is not known whether it will still be operational.
It is not yet known what ride has malfunctioned.
There was a huge emergency services response to the incident this evening with pictures circulating on social media showing at least six police cars in attendance.
It is understood the Air Ambulance was also called to the scene.
