Eric Idle responded directly to a comment from a fan that reads: “I like both Idle and Cleese. I wish they could see past their political differences.”

He penned back in a new post: “Unfortunately it’s much worse than that but I’m not going to say as it’s very boring.”

In another post Eric suggested that he didn’t wish to see his castmate again, replying to a fan who said: “What do you say guys, one last hurrah???”

Eric simply said back: “No thanks.”

A final tweet in the trio saw Eric blatantly say that Monty Python is “dead” while promoting his latest book.

The star bluntly penned in a post of his own: “Today is my publication day in the UK.

“I hope you like and enjoy the book I spent five years on. That’s what I’m doing. Python is dead.”

The flurry of comments comes two years after Eric fired shots at his co-star John Cleese, deeming him as “a bully”.

It also comes a year after Eric reignited the feud again, at the same time branding his co-star Michael Palin a “hypocrite”.

He said at the time: “Michael [Palin] said he was sad to see us break up? He was the first to leave! He’s such a hypocrite.

“I can’t believe Michael said he was sad. He turned down the opportunity to do it in America, in Australia, in South Africa. He turned down $30 [£22] million!”

In 2024, Eric revealed the surviving Pythons were locked in a feud over finances.

In messages on X, he previously wrote: “I don’t know why people always assume we’re loaded.

“I have to work for my living. I never dreamed that at this age the income streams would tail off so disastrously.

“I have been working and earning for Pythons since 1995. And now no more.”
