The game ended 1-1 with Corinthians the favourites to progress to the semi-finals of the tournament.
However, there was controversy in the match after Kaio Cesar’s equaliser for Depay’s team.
Cesar was joined by his Corinthians team-mates in celebrating near the corner flag.
Depay, 32, was also keen to join in with the jubilations but not before goading the home supporters.

As he ran over to his team-mates he was recorded sticking his middle finger up at the rival fans.
There is now a concern the Dutchman could face a punishment for the offensive gesture.
It is not yet clear whether or not he could be hit with a ban and what game or games he would miss.
The home supporters reacted angrily to Depay’s gesture by booing from the stands.

The attacker was also the target of an object that had been thrown in response.
Estudiantes are reported to have filed a complaint with the CONMEBOL disciplinary unit.
The club claims the gesture was “undeniably directed towards our stands”.
Corinthians have argued that Depay can not be banned for the second leg as the deadline for defence comes the following day.

A statement read: “The deadline for submitting a defence, set by CONMEBOL, is September 17, one day after the Copa Libertadores quarter-final second leg.
“Therefore, any potential sanction would only be applied after the ruling, which will take place following the presentation of the defence.
“Respecting the deadline, Corinthians will present this defence to avoid any type of sanction against Memphis Depay.”
Depay could still face a ban but appears set to be cleared to appear in the second leg.
Depay was at United between 2015 and 2017 after joining from PSV for around £25million.
