THE Princess of Wales made a surprise trip to the hospital where she was treated for cancer to see how the money she raised from her Three Peaks Challenge is helping other patients.
Returning to the Royal Marsden Hospital this morning she said her fundraising effort was “my small way of being able to give back and say thank you to you.”

She also hailed the “incredible care” she had received at the hospital.
The Princess of Wales scaled Mount Snowdon, Scafell Pike, and Ben Nevis in June for the London hospital’s holistic care.
During her trip to the Royal Marsden in London Kate saw plans for The Centre for Holistic Wellbeing and Recovery and the site where it will be built.
In June, she took on the National Three Peaks Challenge, climbing the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales within 24 hours.

She undertook the gruelling challenge to highlight the importance of holistic care and support The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity to help people to heal, recover and live beyond a diagnosis.
The funding will not only go towards the new centre but will also support research into how these complementary approaches, alongside clinical care, can make a difference to every person with cancer across the UK.
She received cancer treatment at The Royal Marsden in 2024 after her shock diagnosis and is now in remission.
Speaking to Sir Douglas Flint, chair of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, she said: “This was my small way of being able to give back and say thank you to you.

“I had incredible care here and support from a huge team and I’m really really grateful on a personal level.
“But also the holistic care, the treatments and therapeutic support on the outside is so important.
“It makes a big difference, the impact of nature, the impact of good nutrition, good ongoing support around you when it’s really difficult to manage the trials and tribulations of medical treatments.
“It makes a big difference.
“It made a big difference to me and it made a huge difference lots of patients who I’ve spoken to.
She added: “Thank you and well done. I think it will be transformative not only for patients but for families too.”
Kensington Palace has yet to reveal how much her 24-hour effort raised.
During the visit, Kate also met patients currently undergoing treatment, and heard how holistic care, integrating physical, emotional, spiritual and social wellbeing, can enhance recovery and healing.

Her appointment as patron came after her own personal cancer journey, during which she received treatment at The Royal Marsden.
