Bohemians kept their title hopes alive as they came back from two goals down to beat Galway United 3-2 at Eamonn Deacy Park.
Bohemians kicked off and it was the away side who started with intent with Dawson Devoy and Harry Vaughan both lively on the ball in the early stages, Galway giving away back-to-back free-kicks in dangerous areas but Reynolds’ side failed to test Hugo Da Cunha in goal.
Galway slowly grew into the game with half chances falling to Aaron Bolger and Lee Devitt which were both well saved by Walters in goal.
The home crowd grew in confidence, and they were rewarded with a moment of absolute magic on 30 minutes when Al-Amin Kazeem cross from the left was met acrobatically by local favourite Stephen Walsh and his backwards volley was struck sweetly into the top left corner to score one of the goals of the season and give the Tribesmen a 1-0 lead.
Bohs reacted instantly and almost had an equaliser when a Vaughan cross was met on the volley by Darragh Power but his effort flew narrowly over the bar.
The Dubliners again threatened immediately when Ross Tierney went through one-on-one only for Da Cunha to block his effort and the Galway defence survived the Bohs onslaught to retain a 1-0 lead heading into half-time.
Galway got the game back underway and despite the away side again starting strongest, a moment of madness between Walters and Patrick Hickey at the back saw the Bohs defender head the ball beyond his own keeper into the path of Twardek, who calmly stroked the ball into the empty net to give the home side a two-goal lead.
That lit a fire under Bohemians as Reynolds unloaded his bench in an effort to get his side back in the game, and his efforts were rewarded when substitute Colm Whelan struck from long-range to pull one back and make it 2-1 with 15 minutes remaining.
The Tribesmen found their backs against the wall with Bohs launching wave after wave of attack and with eight minutes remaining, the game was level when Parsons squared the ball to Tierney and the winger made no mistake to drive the ball home and make it 2-2 heading into the final stages.
Deacy Park was a cauldron of intensity as both sides battled for a winner, and as the game approached full-time the Bohemians barrage proved a step too far.
Whelan again broke through on goal and his strike was fumbled by the unfortunate Da Cunha in goal to complete a crucial comeback for Bohs who remain three points behind leaders Shamrock Rovers in the League of Ireland Premier Division.
