A lucky Lotto player in Clare has scooped over €40,000 this week with a winning scorecard purchased in Ennis.

As thousands descend on Doonbeg for the Amgen Irish Open this week, one Clare player already managed a win, matching five numbers and the bonus in the Lotto draw to win €42,031.

The Clare player scooped their Match 5 + Bonus prize after purchasing their ticket in the draw on Wednesday, September 9 at Centra Loughville Motors on Lahinch Road in Ennis.

The winning numbers for September 9 were: 13, 16, 18, 31, 34, 38 and the bonus was 29.

National Lottery spokesperson Darragh O’Dwyer said: “While this weekend’s golf tournament brings thousands of golf fans to Clare, one Clare Lotto player has already enjoyed a winning round after matching five numbers and the bonus to secure €42,031 in Wednesday night’s draw.

“We’re encouraging anyone who purchased a Quick Pick ticket at Centra Loughville Motors on Lahinch Road in Ennis to check their tickets carefully today. If you’re holding the winning ticket, be sure to sign the back of it and contact our Prize Claims team so arrangements can be made to collect your prize.”

The Clare ticketholder is advised to sign the back of their ticket and contact the National Lottery Prize Claims team on 1800 666 222 or email [email protected]. Arrangements will then be made for them to collect their prize at Lottery Headquarters.

Meanwhile, as there was no winner of the €2,381,369 jackpot on offer in last night’s Lotto draw, Saturday’s jackpot is now set to roll towards an estimated €2.8 million.

It follows last weekend’s massive win which saw one Clare player scoop €1 million in a special ‘Guaranteed Millionaire’ event in the Saturday, September 5, draw with a ticket purchased on the day of the draw at Spar Lisdoonvarna.

Shop owner Megan White was delighted to hear about the win, especially as it landed at such an important time of year for the Clare town.

“What a weekend to become a Lisdoonvarna Lotto winner,” Ms White said. “It’s the first week of the famous match-making festival which the entire community gets involved with.

“There’s a great buzz already amongst the town as the festivities get underway, both with customers and surrounding businesses, and this news is sure to add even more.

“We wish the winner all the very best with their win and hopefully they check their ticket soon.”
