Prohibition orders have been served on a Boyle health food store from selling a range of dietary supplements.
A total of five prohibition orders were served on Live5D Health (Health Food Shop/ Pharmacy/ Sports Nutrition), Riverside Offices, Bridge Street, Boyle, one of which is under appeal.
Environmental Health Officers in the Health Service Executive (HSE) and officers in the Food Safety Authority (FSAI) served the orders.
They were served on August 13 for breaches of food safety legislation, pursuant to the FSAI Act, 1998 and the European Union (Official Controls in Relation to Food Legislation) Regulations, 2020.
The store is prohibited from selling a number of dietary supplements, all of which are listed on the FSAI website.
No reason is given why the prohibition orders were served on the business.
The authority states that a prohibition order is issued if the activities (handling, processing, disposal, manufacturing, storage, distribution or selling food) involve or are likely to involve a serious risk to public health from a particular product, class, batch, or item of food. The effect is to prohibit the sale of the product, either temporarily or permanently.
