Uisce Éireann crews are responding to a “significant” burst on a water main on the Monivea Road in Carnmore, Co Galway.

The outage is affecting customers in the Carnmore area, which includes a number of Group Water Schemes including the Castlelambert, Carraun/Castle Ellen, Grange, Carnmore number 3, Cartymore, Casla numbers 1 and 2, and Moorpark numbers 1 and 2 schemes.

Crews are working to isolate the burst main and to begin their repairs, Uisce Éireann explained. It is not known yet when the works will be completed.

It typically take two to three hours for normal supply to be restored to all affected customers following these repairs, however, it make take longer for normal supply to be restored to those customers at the end of the network, or on higher ground.

Ger Greally of Uisce Éireann said crews will make every effort to repair the burst and to restore normal supply to affected customers as quickly as possible.

“This is a significant burst on the water main, but our crews are mobilising to the site to begin their repairs now,” said Mr Greally.

“We understand the impact of an unplanned outage for our customers, and we want to thank affected customers for their patience while these repair works are being carried out.”
