A 26-year-old man accused of stabbing another male has had a new charge preferred against him.

At Drogheda Court on Monday a garda gave evidence of the arrest, charge and caution of Mahmoud Alhosini at the courthouse at 11.20am that day.

He said that the defendant of St Laurence Street, Drogheda, made no reply after caution.

Mr Alhosini is accused of intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to a man at St Laurence Street on March 20 last.

The court heard that this charge is to replace a charge of Section 3 assault causing harm which has been withdrawn.

He is also accused of producing a large knife during a fight while committing or appearing to commit assault causing harm.

The defendant is in custody on this matter and his solicitor Fergal Boyle said that no bail application was being made.

Mr Alhosini was remanded in custody to September 14 via video link.
