There was plenty of gratitude from a Tidy Towns group in Wexford recently as they received a generous donation from a local Wicklow business.
Representatives from Servier Industries in Arklow, Co. Wicklow recently met with members of Gorey Tidy Towns for a cheque presentation where they officially handed over €500, which will go directly towards the upkeep and maintenance of the town.
Members met in the Sensory Garden at Gorey Town Park, which was recently given an updated look just in time for Gorey Market Festival, with colourful paint, weeding, fountain cleaning and general maintenance.
Servier has become a longstanding supporter of the Tidy Towns group as they have presented a number of cheques to the volunteer group over the years.
Chairperson of Gorey Tidy Towns Derek Behan thanked Servier for their continued generosity and said the donation will be put to good use. “Servier has long been a supporter of the work done by the Tidy Towns volunteers, Tús and CE scheme workers.
“Donations like this have helped us buy power tools which make the backbreaking work of weeding and scraping weeds from paths easier. This new donation will go towards the purchase of plants that are needed to keep the various flower beds around town looking great,” Derek added.
Gorey Tidy Towns thanked Servier for its ongoing support as the money is used on projects that the volunteers maintain around the town.
