For each day of June, July and August, Dublin Airport says it facilitated the passage of more than 100,000 people

Dublin Airport enjoyed its busiest-ever summer month in August after it welcomed a total of 3.8 million passengers.

The figure represents a 1pc increase on numbers for the same month last year.

This year also saw the busiest summer period on record since the airport’s foundation as 11.3 million people travelled through – 198,000 more than the summer of 2025.

For each day of June, July and August, Dublin Airport says it facilitated the passage of more than 100,000 passengers, with the busiest day being Sunday, August 16 when 134,700 passengers made their way through the gates, its third-busiest day ever.

Managing director of Dublin Airport, Gary McLean, said its been “a summer to remember”.

“August was the 17th consecutive month of growth in passenger numbers and between May 14th and the last day of August, we welcomed more than 100,000 passengers on every single day, highlighting the huge demand that’s there to fly in and out of Ireland,” he said.

Numbers travelling in August were boosted by a string of big events in Ireland, including thousands of visitors to Dublin for the friendlies between Manchester United and Leeds United as well as Arsenal against Real Betis in Croke Park and the Aviva Stadium respectively.

The concert by The Weeknd in Croke Park and the College Football Classic in the Aviva both attracted upwards of 10,000 fans from overseas.

Mr McLean praised airport staff for ensuring the smooth passage of the 11.3 million who graced its terminals this summer.

“It’s testament to their hard work that we have been able to facilitate such large numbers of passengers whilst ensuring that passenger satisfaction scores remained at record high levels.

“We continue to work tirelessly to make changes and enhancements in the terminals to make travel easier for passengers. Following several months of work and a significant investment by DAA, an overhaul of the security entry point in Terminal 2 has seen the introduction of new electronic boarding pass scanners, a new much-improved Fast Track facility in Terminal 2 and the continued rollout of landside improvements for public transport users, including the addition of a new coffee truck in the Terminal 1 bus park.”

He continued: “Through the first eight months of the year, a total of 25.6 million passengers have travelled through Dublin Airport, which is +5% higher than in the same period last year.”
