A YOUNG boy has been found hanged after telling his mum about a game involving “jumping from a cliff”.

Pietro, 7, had been playing at home with a nine-year-old neighbour when he was found hanging from a toy rope in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

He died in hospital on September 7, with his family fearing he could have been imitating a video he saw online.

Pietro’s heartbroken family say he was playing with a female friend between 3pm and 4pm before the girl left and went home.

He then went to ask his mum Lorraynne dos Santos, 26, for a snack.

Lorraynne said he mentioned a game to her involving “jumping from a cliff”.

She told police she went to her bedroom shortly after thinking nothing of the comment.

Pietro was left alone in another room as Lorraynne was on the phone.

After becoming concerned that her son had been quiet, Lorraynne went to check on him.

She found Pietro unresponsive and immediately called for an ambulance.

The boy was rushed to the Sao Mateus Emergency Care Unit as doctors attempted to revive Pietro, before he tragically died.

His uncles later told cops they thought he could have attempted to copy a video of someone jumping off a cliff.

Cops have not yet found any evidence confirming a video could have prompted the tragedy.

The phone he used was seized by investigators and is now being checked to see the content Pietro watched before his death.

Police said they found no signs of abuse or other injuries on Pietro.

The female friend’s mum told cops her daughter had gone to play that day without a mobile phone.

She said her daughter told her the pair had played normally and that Pietro had not acted unusual in any way.

Forensic experts are still working to determine exactly what happened.
