Set Dancing Lessons

Set Dancing lessons will commence in the Fox in the Bun Ditch on September 10th from 7.30 to 8.30 pm. This is a six week course. Nice hobby for the winter evenings.

Culture Night

‘The Pipes Are Calling’ – A classical concert for voice and organ with Dunlavin-based baritone opera singer, Gyula Nagy and organist, Judit Máté, will take place in St. Nicholas of Myra RC Church on Culture Night, Friday September 18th beginning at 7.30pm. Guest musicians: Ballymore Eustace Concert Band. We will also have a free raffle on the night, if anyone would like to donate a prize please drop it into Fr. Douglas or the Parish office. All are warmly welcome.

Free Computer Classes

Free Computer Classes are available at Dunlavin Parish Centre (Tuesday mornings, 9.30–11.30 am) Would you like to improve your computer skills for everyday use or prepare to return to work? Join our free computer classes, delivered by a highly qualified and experienced tutor. Courses available: QQI Level 4 Computer Course Non-certified computer classes.

Voluntary Position

A Voluntary Position has been requested for a Parish Health and Safety Contact Person for St. Nicholas of Myra Church. This person will act as the local point of contact for H&S matters.

The role involves assisting the Parish Team in maintaining H&S documentation, carrying out basic safety checks, reporting hazards or concerns, coordinating with contractors, and promoting a safe environment for parishioners, staff, volunteers, and visitors.

The Contact Person will support the implementation of H&S arrangements but does not assume overall responsibility. If you are interested in position please contact Fr. Douglas or drop in/contact the Parish office.

Used Postage Stamps

Please keep your used postage stamps for St. Patrick’s Missions, Kiltegan who use them to fundraise. Stamps can be dropped into the parish office at any time. Thank you.

Aras Addiction Centre

A drop in clinic occurs in Seomra in The Imaal Hall from 11am to 1pm every second week. Offering support and guidance for aor addiction users. Contact Aras on 045 939496 or 087 9824155.

Music Generation

Music Generation Wicklow and Music Under The Mountains are coming together to offer lessons on guitar, tin whistle, traditional flute, fiddle, accordion and concertina.

GAA Club Lotto

Hollywood GAA Club Lotto draw results for 2nd September. The numbers drawn were 17, 24, 26 & 28. There was no winner of the jackpot. The €20 seller’s prizes went to Dalys 589, The €50 winners were Anne Leigh online 174, Milly Byrne online 372, Isabel Keenaghan 74, Marie Clarke 522.

Stratford on Slaney Community Forum

The Stratford on Slaney Community Forum has written to Stratford Tidy Towns requesting a timeline for the removal of the mounds in the village and seeking information on what is being developed in the community garden. Tidy Towns has confirmed in correspondence that they will discuss the Forum’s concerns at their next meeting and will provide an update thereafter.

The Forum recently met with the Heritage Officer from Wicklow County Council for a walk-through of the village. A number of items of heritage interest were highlighted and the process for having areas of the village formally protected was explained to the Forum.

Wicklow County Council Grant

The Forum’s would like to thank the Council for awarding them €1000. This LEP grant has been spent on new community hall tables, cups and 5-litre pump flasks. These items have been gifted to Stratford Grangecon GAA Clubhouse in recognition of the club generously facilitating large community events for the village and surrounding areas.

Fundraising Pub Quiz

The Stratford on Slaney Community Forum is organising a fundraising Pub Quiz Night this Friday 11th September at 8pm in the Glen Lounge. There will be great prizes and a raffle on the night. Your support would be very much appreciated. All funds raised will go directly towards our free family Christmas event, which we have now started organising.

Ageless Adventures

Ageless Adventures has enjoyed two wonderful outings in recent months.

In July, the group enjoyed a day trip to Waterford City for a day of great history and great company. The group travelled on the Community Garda Bus, which allowed everyone to relax and enjoy the day. The highlight was a visit to the Irish Museum of Time, home to the world’s largest public collection of Black Forest cuckoo clocks. The museum showcases hundreds of stunning 19th-century clocks, from tiny miniatures to large woodland scenes, showing how Black Forest craftsmen turned timekeeping into an art form. There was also time for shopping and a relaxing café stop.

In August, the group visited Huntington Castle & Gardens in the picturesque village of Clonegal, Co. Carlow. Dating back to 1625, the group explored over 400 years of history, stunning gardens and beautiful woodland walks, all perfect for a social outing.

This month, Ageless Adventures is off to Arklow on Thursday, 24th September. After a morning of shopping or a seafront stroll, the group will enjoy a special Victorian dress-up experience and photoshoot, followed by afternoon tea and a chat with friends.
