A TEACHER at one of the country’s oldest private boarding schools for girls was sacked after displaying his YouTube search history to pupils.

Disgraced James Hindson, 69, made the slip while conducting a lesson at Moreton Hall School in Shropshire, where he had taught since 2012.

The disturbing search history revealed terms including “teen bikini haul”, “teens in thongs”, and “girls in thongs”.

Pupils reported that Mr Hindson had projected his YouTube account onto a large classroom screen.

As he clicked on the search bar to find a video, his recent search history became visible to the class.

Two pupils recalled seeing the term “teen bikini haul” alongside another phrase they identified as either “girls in thongs” or “teens in thongs”.

Following the incident, the school’s IT team conducted a search of Mr Hindson’s Google account on 15 May 2025.

Entering the word “teen” generated multiple results, with investigators noting common themes of searches for young people in minimal clothing, engaging in athletic activity, or relating to sexual activity.

The searches were confirmed to have taken place between April 2021 and November 2023.

Mr Hindson was fired the same day from the £45,000-a-year school.

A professional panel was satisfied that the search terms had been displayed on screen, even if the exact wording of the second term could not be definitively pinpointed between the two recalled phrases.

Mr Hindson admitted displaying his past searches during the lesson and did not deny making them.

He stated that the searches were conducted at home and that he had only intended to project a YouTube clip illustrating aspects of global trade based on a song.

Mr Hindson – who was also a church warden – described the on-screen display as entirely accidental.

Alan Wells, who chaired the Teaching Regulation Agency panel, said: “The panel considered it highly relevant that Mr Hindson was teaching secondary-aged pupils at an all-girls’ boarding school and that the subject matter of the searches closely reflected the age group of the pupils in his care.

“The panel considered that any reasonable member of the public would regard it as wholly inappropriate for a teacher to search for such terms and, in particular, for pupils subsequently to be exposed to those terms, even inadvertently.

“For these reasons, the panel found that Mr Hindson’s actions constituted conduct that may bring the profession into disrepute.

“The panel further found that Mr Hindson’s conduct amounted to both unacceptable professional conduct and conduct that may bring the profession into disrepute.”

The panel also acknowledged that Mr Hindson had actively removed himself from roles outside the teaching profession that involved children including stepping down as a Church Warden and as a member of the Parochial Church Council.

It was concerned by the overall pattern of searches, in particular search terms such as “teen first time sex”, “twerking schools teens”, “teens having sex” and “good teen sex”.

Mr Hindson had accepted that his conduct was of a sexual nature and sexually motivated

He was banned from the profession for at least two years.

Marc Cavey, for the Education Secretary, said: “The panel finds that the conduct of Mr Hindson fell significantly short of the standards expected of the profession.

“The findings of misconduct are serious as they include a secondary school teacher conducting sexually motivated YouTube searches that were consistently focused on teenagers, with repeated reference to “teens”, and allowing several of those search terms to be displayed to pupils during a lesson.”
