ALAN Carr fought back tears as he was surprised with a top National Television Awards prize – and serenaded by Amanda Holden.
The much-loved comedian, 50, received the prestigious Special Recognition Award at this year’s ceremony.

Close friend Amanda Holden, 55, led a chorus of Alan’s friends and co-stars to hint at the recipient’s identity.
She was joined by Alan’s Celebrity Traitors co-stars Paloma Faith, Charlotte Church, Kate Garraway and David Olusoga.
The group collectively sang I Know Him So Well from the smash-hit musical Chess.
Along with Amanda and Paloma, Stephen Fry, Jonathan Ross, Graham Norton and Claudia Winkleman paid tribute to Alan via a special video.
