For Porto, midfielder Victor Froholdt is ruled out due to concussion protocols after being knocked unconscious during their 2-1 win over Moreirense.
Defender Jan Bednarek is serving a two-game suspension carried over from a red card received in the Europa League last season.
The Portuguese champions are also missing Samu Aghehowa, who is recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament tear, alongside Oskar Pietuszewski and Zaidu Sanusi.
City also have injury concerns ahead of the trip to Porto, with Nico O’Reilly sidelined with a back injury suffered during the warm-up before their 1-0 win against Coventry.
Winger Jeremy Doku remains unavailable due to a calf injury.
Summer signing Ayyoub Bouaddi could make his first start in midfield, while Matheus Nunes is in contention to start at right-back.
Erling Haaland is expected to lead the line for the visitors.
