A MAJOR UK air show has been axed this weekend after organisers put the business into liquidation.

Dozens of aircraft were set to take to the skies, with events scheduled to mark the 90th anniversary of the legendary Spitfire.

Hampshire Air Festival has been unexpectedly cancelled this weekend after the organiser’s put the business into liquidation.

Over 40 aircraft were set to take to the skies on September 12 and 13 at the Thruxton Aerodrome in Andover, offering a unique display of aviation history in the region.

Organisers Montserrat Events & Festivals Limited said: “It is with profound sadness that the directors of Montserrat Events & Festivals Limited have to announce the cancellation of the Hampshire Air Festival 2026 due to take place at Thruxton Aerodrome on 12 and 13 September.

“As a consequence, steps are being taken to put the business into liquidation with the Directors taking independent legal and insolvency advice.”

No refunds have currently been offered by Montserrat Events, with the organiser instead directing ticket holders to their relevant bank provider.

According to them: “Ticket holders should contact their debit or credit card provider directly regarding their ticket purchase and to discuss the options available to them for recovering their payment.

“Suppliers and other stakeholders will be contacted with further information regarding the process and any relevant claims or enquiries.”

Announced at the end of last year, Hampshire Air Show was offered as a new aerial event for the Aerodrome, themed “The Age of Flight” to mark the 90th anniversary year of the legendary Spitfire.

The event was set to feature military displays, re-enactment camps, and historic vehicles, alongside two full days of aerobatics, fast jets, and warbird performances.

Over 150,000 people visit Thruxton each year to enjoy a host of motorsports and airfield events.
