EMMERDALE emerged victorious against EastEnders and Coronation Street in the battle for Best Soap at the NTAs.
The Yorkshire-set ITV soap triumphed to claim the National Television Award for Best Serial Drama.

For the last four years, the award has changed hands between Emmerdale and EastEnders.
Although Emmerdale has won the gong seven times in the last decade, followed by EastEnders on three times and Coronation Street with only one win.
Katie Hill – who has played Sarah Sugden since 2017 – delivered an acceptance speech on behalf of Emmerdale.
She said: “Thank you so, so much to everyone who voted and thank you to all our viewers who continue to support the show – we wouldn’t have one if it weren’t for you guys.

Katie, 23, continued by thanking Emmerdale‘s cast and crew, while sharing excitement over taking the award back to Yorkshire.
Earlier in the night, Cain Dingle actor Jeff Hordley won the award for Serial Drama Performance.
He saw off competition from EastEnders‘ Paul Bradley and Aaron Thiara, as well as Coronation Street‘s Gareth Pierce and Sue Devaney.
Jeff said in his speech: “Thank you to everybody who’s voted for me tonight, it means a lot, it takes my breath away.

These shout-outs included the actor praising his own father-in-law Graham, among others.
He added: “I want to thank my wing woman, Natalie J. Robb, who makes acting a breeze, every day is a joy working with you.”
Jeff went on: “And, thank you to my real wife Zoe Henry, my rock, my soulmate, I am so lucky,” as well as thanking his children Stanley and Violet.
Zoe is also Jeff’s co-star on Emmerdale, playing vet Rhona Goskirk on the show.
