A RESCUE dog was returned just 24 hours after meeting his “forever family” because his new owners decided they “didn’t want him anymore”.
The heartbroken pup was left “bewildered” and “confused” by the shock turn of events.
Titan, a rescue dog living at the Oakwood Rescue Centre in East Yorkshire, was heartbreakingly returned by his adopted family after only one night in their care.
The dog, described as “an absolute livewire” who “loves his people”, had been living at the rescue centre for a while and was on the lookout for his forever home.
Luck soon struck for the cheery dog when a family chose to adopt him, and the team at the rescue centre were overjoyed at the news.
After Titan’s first night in his new home, the Hull-based rescue centre checked in with the family to see how the pup was settling in, and was delighted at the response.

“He hasn’t barked once,” replied the new owners.
“Slept all night from 10pm to 6am. He is so playful. Hasn’t flinched once or been shy. Was excellent when we ate tea. Didn’t even beg at all.
“He is lovely,” they wrote.
It seemed like Titan had found his forever home and was happily settling into his new life, but a shock phone call three hours later changed everything.

After receiving a text from the family requesting an urgent phone call, the rescue centre were left stunned by what they had to say.
“We don’t want a dog anymore,” they stated.
There was no incident, the family just said that while “Titan has been perfect, we just don’t want the responsibility and have decided that we didn’t need a dog in our lives”.
Sadly, just 24 hours after Titan left for his new home, he was returned to the rescue centre.
Still dumbfounded by Titan’s return, the centre once again asked if there was any reason the family no longer wanted the dog.
Their response was heartbreaking: “Absolutely nothing. Titan has done nothing at all wrong. It’s all us. We just don’t want a dog.”
Titan was left feeling “bewildered” and “confused” by the sudden change of events, with the rescue saying it would take him several days “to get back to his happy-go-lucky, cheeky self”.
For those wondering what will happen to Titan, it seems he may have found his happy-ever-after after all.
A picture of the happy pup recently appeared on the rescue’s Facebook page announcing the exciting news: “Titan has been reserved.”
Oakwood Dog Rescue is a charity in Hull that specialises in “rehoming ex-street dogs from overseas” as well as dogs found in the UK.
Following Titan’s untimely return, the team reminded families looking to adopt a dog to carefully consider the decision, and think about the effect on the animals.
