A BELOVED BBC series has been renewed for a second season after being hailed the “biggest comedy of the year”.
The six-part series first aired in February of this year and will return for another instalment after being a huge hit with viewers.
Small Prophets follows the story of lonely Michael Sleep, whose partner, Clea, has been missing for the past seven years.
Played by Pearce Quigley, Manchester DIY store worker Michael uses magic spirits known as Homunculi in a bid to find out what happened to Clea.
With young colleague, Kacey, played by Lauren Patel, Michael brings the Homunculi to life to try and uncover the mystery.
The show, created by Mackenzie Crook, was an instant hit with Brits when it aired at the start of the year.

Attracting more than 9 million viewers since it became available on iPlayer, the mystical tale has been hailed the “biggest comedy of the year” by the BBC.
The breakout series has since been acquired by Apple TV and will air on the streaming platform in October.
The BBC has confirmed that Small Prophets will return for season 2 in 2027 and will move from BBC Two to BBC One.
Sharing his excitement over the revival of Small Prophets, Mackenzie Crook said: “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the second half of this strange story and as intrigued as anyone else to find out what happens to Michael Sleep in his mystical quest.
