Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) is in a bad headspace in upcoming Coronation Street scenes, and he is set to throw himself into work instead of confronting his struggles.
In tonight’s episode, Kit was caught totally off-guard when he was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and told he would need to undergo further tests to determine the best treatment plan.
The news came as a huge shock and left him emotional, which caught Todd Grimshaw’s (Gareth Pierce) attention. After some pushing, Todd managed to get Kit to reveal his diagnosis.
However, when Kit admitted that he didn’t want anyone else to know what he was going through, Todd seemed concerned and urged him to reach out to someone for support.
Next week, Kit continues to try his best to push his diagnosis to the back of his mind by going on another date, but when he brings the woman home and she tries to kiss him, he admits that he isn’t in the right headspace, causing her to storm out.
Later in the week, unaware of what Kit is dealing with behind the scenes, DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) increases the pressure on him to find Luke Cookson’s killer.
Kit reacts by snapping at her, which sets off enough alarm bells to send Lisa to Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) to voice her concerns.
Meanwhile, Kit goes all out in pursuit of the murder suspect, to the point that he puts himself at risk.
He chases after the young lad, clearly in the mood for a fight, and accuses him of murdering Luke.
It seems a fight is exactly what he gets when he later joins the family for pizza night, sporting two black eyes.
Bernie is concerned for him, and in a bid to raise his spirits, she tells him she has a good feeling about her cancer tests and believes she will be given the all-clear.
Will Kit finally open up to Bernie about what’s really bothering him, or will he continue to face his own cancer diagnosis alone?
