LIFTING the English Open trophy will be at the forefront of several snooker stars’ minds this week – and the prize money that comes with it is a nice bonus.
Mark Allen made the English crowd proud by pipping Zhou Yuelong to last year’s title with a 9-8 win in the final.
And for his troubles, the snooker icon took home a whopping £100,000 from the total prize pot.
But Allen will certainly not be receiving the huge payday from this year’s competition, as he has withdrawn due to personal reasons.
This leaves the cheque open for the likes of Judd Trump, Neil Robertson and World champion Wu Yize, who will all be desperate to sign.
