Emmerdale spoilers follow for Monday’s (September 7) episode that is now available to view on ITVX and YouTube. The episode in question will air on ITV1 on at 8pm.

Despite claims of having turned over a new leaf since she was last in the village, it seems Sadie King (Patsy Kensit) is up to her old tricks once more following her return in the wake of Jimmy’s (Nick Miles) demise.

The show villain, who caused absolute mayhem during her initial stint in the noughties, showed up on helicopter last week after two decades away to pay tribute to recently deceased Jimmy, who she claimed she’d been in a relationship with for three years.

The revelation left grieving widow Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) – and the nation, for that matter – utterly devastated.

Nico refused to buy what scheming Sadie was selling at first but when her love rival provided her with photos to prove she and Jimmy were an item – plus a series of facts she could’ve only known if she were in touch with the King patriarch – she was left with little choice but to believe her.

Despite the photos, however, fans remained adamant that Sadie has ulterior motives in coming back to the village – and such a theory was proven true when we saw her slyly lingering outside Victoria Cottage before heading inside to snoop.

She was caught red-handed by Nicola before she could locate whatever it is that she was after, and managed to concoct a story to cover her tracks. Upon seeing another photo of Sadie with Jimmy, Nicola agreed to work with the schemer amid funeral preparations.

Later, a delighted Sadie headed to The Hide. And this is where things got really interesting. Her card was declined, which Sadie laughed off, managing to pay for her order with another one.

All the while managing to find time to flirt with Caleb Miligan (William Ash), might we add!

But as she returned to her seat, she scrolled through the photos she had on her phone of her and Jimmy from their alleged three years together.

She stopped at the photograph she’d shown Nicola earlier – an image of Jimmy smiling with Sadie hugging him. As she scrolled again, the very same image of Jimmy appeared – but this time without Sadie in it.

The plot thickens.

Has Sadie superimposed herself into imagery with Jimmy in order to back up her claims that they’d had a secret relation. Is the whole thing a lie after all?

And if so, are her motives the same as always – to get her hands on some cash no matter how many lives she destroys?

We know that Jimmy had quite a bit of money to his name following his sale of Home James Haulage, so given that he and Sadie were in touch to some capacity (as proven via the flashback last week), could she have learned that he possessed such cash and thus resolved to steal it?

Her card being declined is certainly indicative of her having cash flow issues and Sadie was always on the hunt for ways to stay in the money back in the day, so is her Jimmy claims simply all a scam after all?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX and YouTube.
