MOTORSPORT fans trolled racing driver Gus Burton as he charged them £10 each for a spot on his car.
The Porsche Supercup star, 23, scrambled to save his season after losing a key sponsor in April.
Things looked like they were coming to a head in the four-week break between races in Hungary and Holland, with the Supercup schedule mirroring that of the F1 season.
But Burton hatched an ingenious plan to get to the grid, charging fans between £10 and £100 to print their name on his race car.
With a hefty social media following of over 150,000 fans across Instagram and TikTok, funnyman Burton whipped up plenty of support.
And not only did he make it to Zandvoort last month, he also raised enough cash to drive in Monza for the Supercup season finale over the weekend.

Burton turned up to Italy with well over 2,000 names on his car, including Formula E star Oliver Rowland and ex-F1 ace Timo Glock.
But not all submissions made the cut. In a video posted to his Instagram page, Burton joked: “Some of you tried to be funny, didn’t you?
“As you know, many of you bought names on my race car to get me through to the end of the season. Thank you, I love you all.
“However, you’ve got to remember we’re racing on an F1 weekend, some of these names… we can’t have.”

He then read out “The p***y destroyer”, “Biggus D***us”, “Wayne Kerr” and “Phil McCrackin”, among a few other lewd efforts.
Burton concluded: “All of these we can’t have on the car, but I really appreciate the thought that has gone into it.”
The race in Monza did not go to plan for Burton, who qualified 11th but fell to the back of the pack after an incident on lap one.
Repairs were not finished in time for the race to restart, with Burton taking sixth place in the final season standings.
