NOEL Gallagher was left unimpressed by his brother Liam on the eve of their triumphant return to the stage last year.

The Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger documentary – which opens in cinemas on Wednesday before streaming on Disney+ – charts the formerly-estranged siblings’ reconciliation and comeback tour, featuring rehearsal scenes ahead of the gigs.

One scene shows Liam, 53, failing to turn up at the final rehearsal before the Cardiff opener.

Blasting his little brother, Noel, 59, rages: “The final run-through the night before one of the biggest ever nights of our lives and he’s not rehearsed.”

Liam eventually swaggers on stage at the Principality Stadium and grabbed his brother’s hand in a show of unity, which became an iconic image – which Noel admits surprised him.

He says: “He turns up 20 minutes before the gig and is, ‘What’s the catering like?’ and I’m like, ‘How is this going to work?’

“Then he grabs my hand and I’m like, ‘What the f?’ and then he gets up and performs and it’s like he’s 30 years young. I’m like, ‘You absolutely fing mad c**t.’”

Rocker Liam’s tardiness was nothing to do with boozing, as it’s also revealed in the film that he kicked cigarettes and alcohol for the tour, which has led the band to announce further dates across the US and Europe in 2027.

The band’s reunion last year was too “f***ing precious” to spoil it by partying, the singer admits in the film, which premiered over the weekend at the Venice Film Festival and caused a viral moment when the brothers joked around with each other on the red carpet.

The film also tells how at the first rehearsal in a London studio, the brothers don’t even say hello with Noel simply asking, “Ready then?” before they start playing.

The pair also have a tiff over a drumkit, with Liam walking out of the session without saying goodbye.

But the film demonstrates how much Liam missed his brother and regretted his actions over the years.

Some of the vicious insults he threw Noel’s way included calling him a “d**head”, a “potato” and a “former brother”, with Liam admitting on film: “We all said s*** we didn’t mean. Half the s*** that was coming out of our mouths we didn’t mean. You know what I mean, you miss people.”

Noel admits in the documentary that he had fears that the £400million reunion tour would fall apart in wake of the brothers’ 16-year rift and fresh tensions.

But Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger sees the men mostly at peace, with Noel even branding his younger brother “delightful”.

The brothers’ relationship blew up in 2009 after a brawl ended in Liam wielding Noel’s favourite Gibson guitar like an axe, leading his brother to walk out on the band for good.

But the pair did not have a discussion about the band’s bitter break-up.

Instead, Noel says: “It was all forgiven without saying a word.”
