FIREFIGHTERS battled through the night to bring a blaze ripping through a scrapyard under control.
The huge fire broke out at a site packed with scrap metal and tyres in Barnsley at around 1.15am.

Ten fire engines and several crews from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service raced to the scene on Saturday.
Firefighters battled to fight the flames into the early hours of this morning.
An aerial ladder platform and several operational support vehicles were also deployed as the blaze reached its peak.
The towering plumes could be seen for miles around as flames swirled viciously through the scrapyard.

Firefighters could be seen blasting the inferno with powerful jets of water as they fought to bring it under control.
The fire service urged nearby residents to keep their doors and windows shut because of the large amount of smoke.
Members of the public were also warned to avoid the area while crews continued tackling the blaze.
In an update at 1.15pm, the fire service said Boulder Bridge Road was closed.

They added it would be “for several hours”, adding that drivers should avoid the area if possible.
