Gardaí are searching for the drivers or occupants of a car they believe was involved in a fatal hit-and-run incident in Clonlara, Co Clare on Friday.

16-year-old Bryan Lowe was found unresponsive by the roadside on the L3050 at Cottage Cross near Clonlara. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Lowe had been riding a scrambler bike at the time of the incident.

Gardaí say they want to speak to the driver or occupants of a Skoda Octavia that was travelling driving in the vicinity of Clonlara area of Co Clare and the Castelconnell area of Co Limerick between the hours of 6pm on Friday and 11am on Saturday.

A second vehicle involved in the incident failed to remain at the scene.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact gardaí.

Road users who were in the Clonlara/Castleconnell area at the time and may have camera footage, including dash-cam, are asked to make it available to investigating gardaí.
