Michael Carrick could name an unchanged XI when Manchester United take on Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium this afternoon.

After a poor opening weekend defeat to Hull City, United got their campaign up and running with a thumping 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town last time out.

Bruno Fernandes bagged a hat-trick with Marcus Rashford, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha all impressing in attack.

Carrick does have options to rotate but may see little reason to with things clicking into gear against the Tractor Boys.

Mason Mount is fit once again having returned to training after a pre-season injury delayed the start to his season. The former Chelsea star impressed in the summer, playing alongside Andrey Santos in a deeper midfield role until a hamstring injury forced him off against Paris Saint-Germain.

Having sat out of the opening two games of the campaign he will be expected to make the matchday squad.

Benjamin Sesko is another who had a disrupted pre-season, not playing a minute due to a shin injury suffered last season.

He came off the bench against Hull and Ipswich with Carrick suggesting on Friday the striker is still working towards full fitness.

The Slovenia international finished a brilliant counter attacking move on the blue half of Merseyside last season and will surely feature at some point today.

Amad Diallo remains sidelined with an ankle problem, as is new signing Carlos Baleba. The midfielder is still a couple of weeks away from his debut with the game against Fulham on 20 September a possible target.

Matthijs de Ligt is also still regaining fitness after his extended layoff with Manuel Ugarte a long-term absentee.

United’s failure to bring in another left-back before Tuesday’s transfer deadline could come back to haunt them later in the season but for now, Carrick has a settled back four operating in front of Senne Lammens.

Luke Shaw came off late on against Ipswich but there has been no suggestion this week he is carrying a knock.

Kobbie Mainoo’s excellent performance last Sunday further cements his place in midfield.

United return to Champions League action against Sabah on Thursday night – just three days before the Manchester derby. Rotation will surely be a factor midweek with Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven, Andrey Santos and Sesko among those who will be pushing for starts.
