AN AMAZON plane has crashed on a motorway after missing Miami Airport’s runway – leaving “multiple” people injured.
The crash has sparked a full shutdown of the airport and grounded all flights – as plumes of thick smoke were seen billowing from the site of the smash.
Authorities said “multiple patients” are currently being treated at the scene.
The jet is understood to have overshot the airport runway.
Miami International Airport said the closure was due to a “disabled aircraft,” according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Footage on social media showed columns of smoke rising from the aircraft.
Miami Dade Fire Rescue says crews “received reports of a hazardous situation involving a plane that overran a runway and struck multiple vehicles” at 1.55pm local time.
