A little under a year on from the publication of her most recent novel, West Kerry-based author Felicity Hayes-McCoy is once again earning the description of ‘prolific’ as she prepares to send her new novel off out into the world.
‘A Winter Wedding’ is the latest offering from the popular author and it follows media darling Lisette Lynch as she plans the wedding everyone expects to be the ‘show-stopping wedding of the year’, while privately longing for something more intimate and a chance to step away from the limelight.
As her sister Jools tries to keep the peace, their powerful businesswoman mother, Ali, struggles with secrets from the past. As Lisette’s big day draws near, and tensions continue to rise, a letter arrives that threatens to uncover the secrets Ali has kept hidden for years…
Described as a cosy and festive story, the book is described as one that explores the relationships between sisters, mothers and daughters, as well as themes of family secrets, adoption and long-lost relatives.
Alongside the emotional family drama, the book is also described as having strong contemporary lifestyle angles around wedding planning, sustainability, upcycling, artisan Irish producers and Irish eco-tourism.
A native of Dublin, Felicity’s Finfarran novels are widely read on both sides of the Atlantic, and in Australia, and have been translated into seven languages. She and her husband, opera director Wilf Judd, live in West Kerry and also in Bermondsey, London.
A Winter Wedding is scheduled for release on September 17.
