AFTER 38 hours of deliberations, jurors at the Lindsay Clancy trial couldn’t reach a verdict on whether the mother should be acquitted.
One juror held out against the other 11 and refused to unanimously agree if the 36-year-old should be held criminally responsible for the deaths of her three young children.
The judge formally declared a mistrial on Friday and Clancy’s lawyer has slammed the one jury member for “robbing” them of a not guilty verdict.
Clancy admitted to strangling her three children with exercise bands in 2023, but her lawyers argued that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and is not responsible.
Prosecutors have maintained the Massachusetts mum was acting intentionally and knew the difference between right and wrong.
The prosecution can request a retrial and the decision could be made during a status conference on September 29.
