Gardaí in Clare caught the same learner driver unaccompanied twice on Thursday, September 3.
In a post on social media, Clare gardaí explained how one of their roads policing units was surprised to see a white Honda he had pulled over and impounded earlier in the day back out on the N67.
It turned out that the vehicle was being driven by the same unaccompanied learner driver the garda had pulled over mere hours before.
The driver had retrieved his car from impoundment and was driving home when he was stopped by gardaí for a second time that day.
“One of our roads policing units was surprised to see this vehicle driven by a lone driver yesterday, especially as the same garda had seized it under the Clancy amendment only a few hours before from the same unaccompanied learner driver,” the post by An Garda Síochána Clare read.
“The driver had gone in and gotten his car released and was heading for home when he was stopped for a second time.
“Between fines and impound fees, this cost the driver over €1,000 and four points on his licence.”
