The subject of Elliot Windsor’s (Luca Hoyle) parentage is revisited in Emmerdale once again following the death of Jimmy King (Nick Miles), who perished last week.

Jimmy lost his life after he was forced to swerve to avoid an oncoming vehicle, crashing into the marquee where Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) was set to wed Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley).

His final moments saw him reflect on life with his beloved Nicola, contemplating an alternate reality where they would’ve walked down the aisle and exchanged vows once more as he gifted his soulmate with an eternity ring.

In the aftermath of Jimmy’s death, Nicola was forced to tell their kids, including Carl (Charlie Joyce), who worried that if he misbehaved or proved troublesome, Nicola might not want him anymore, reminding her that she’s not his biological mother.

Heartbroken, Nicola assured him that she will always be his mother in every way that counts. That same logic applies to Elliot, who was conflicted over whether or not to go to uni, given that his dad was keen for him to take over the family business.

Elliot isn’t Nicola’s biological son either, something which is discussed in Thursday (September 3) edition of the ITV soap. If you’re struggling to recall who is then we’re on hand to fill in the blanks.

Who is Elliot’s mum Kelly in Emmerdale?

Elliot’s mum is Kelly Windsor, who Jimmy had a relationship with between 2006 and 2007. They were engaged to be married but Jimmy jilted her at the altar when he learned that she’d had an abortion, which led to her leaving the village.

Kelly subsequently returned in 2011 and, in what was a big twist at the time, she revealed that she hadn’t actually gone through with the abortion and thus had a three-year-old son named Elliot.

The news left Jimmy reeling and, after getting his head around it, he and Kelly attempted to explain the situation to Elliot, who subsequently went back to America with his mum.

The following year, Elliot returned to the village when Kelly sent him to Emmerdale to live with Jimmy.

It didn’t take long for Nicola and Jimmy to grow attached, swiftly coming to see him as part of their little family. Adoption was discussed but before they set in motion any proceedings, they agreed to let him return to America with his mum.

Nicola and Jimmy, however, got their wish several years later when Elliot turned up in the village once more.

This time, Kelly agreed to let Elliot live on a permanent basis with her ex and Nicola, who were overjoyed.

At this stage, Nicola had come to see Carl – Jimmy’s other son with Juliette Holliday following a muddle up at the fertility clinic – as her son and thus their perfect little family was completed with Elliot’s comeback.

Elliot returned to screens after a lengthy absence earlier this year, as Nicola informed several villagers that he had ‘smashed’ his A-Level results.

Uni beckoned for Elliot, much to Nicola’s delight, but in the wake of Jimmy’s death the teen isn’t so sure if he wants to leave the village. Nicola told him to give it a few months and then they can re-evaluate when the recent tragedy isn’t as raw as it is now.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 or stream from 7am on ITVX and YouTube.
