A host of current and former Mayo footballers attended Cillian O’Connor’s wedding to Hannah Wallace last week-end at the luxurious Mount Juliet Estate in Kilkenny.
The pair got engaged on April 19, 2025.
A qualified primary school teacher, he is currently the director of Spot Recruitment, a Dublin-based financial services sector recruitment firm which he founded with ex-Sligo footballer Pat Hughes in 2019.
O’Connor (34) also holds a Master’s degree in performance psychology from the University of Ulster, Jordanstown.
His wife is a native of Stillorgan in south County Dublin but has family connections to County Tipperary.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Ms Wallace is a Digital Account Executive at Microsoft and is a graduate of the University of Galway, TUD and UCD’s Michael Smurfit Business School.
The Sam Maguire trophy made the trip southeast for the wedding at the five-star Mount Juliet Estate, where the couple were joined by over 120 guests, including older members of the current Mayo senior football team, such as Aidan O’Shea, Paddy Durcan and Rob Hennelly.
Several ex-teammates of O’Connor, such as Tom Parsons, Donal Vaughan, Alan Dillon, Jason Doherty, Kevin McLoughlin, Barry Moran, Seamus O’Shea, Colm Boyle and Andy Moran, also attended.
The Sam Maguire also appeared at the wedding of O’Connor’s teammate, Fergal Boland, who married Cork native Roberta Harrington last month, and is expected to appear at the wedding of Mayo footballer Jordan Flynn, who is marrying Jessie Brown this December.
Cillian O’Connor made his debut for the Mayo senior football team in 2011 and was one of the county’s leading forwards for over a decade.
In 2019, he became the all-time leading scorer in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship – a record he still holds.
After stepping away from the county setup in 2025, O’Connor returned to the Mayo panel following Andy Moran’s appointment as manager.
He made some appearances throughout this season but did not make the match-day squad for the All-Ireland final.
After the game, he lifted Sam Maguire along with his brother, Diarmuid, a prominent member of the Mayo squad for over a decade.
Cillian O’Connor has won an All-Ireland title, two Young Footballer of the Year awards, seven Connacht titles and two All-Stars during his intercounty career.
He is currently playing Mayo Senior Club Championship football with Ballintubber, with whom he has won five senior county titles.
It remains to be seen if he will commit to the Mayo senior team for a sixteenth season.
