Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) hit the bottle once again in Emmerdale today as she attempted to process more news about the secret life Jimmy King (Nick Miles) was living.

Nicola’s partner Jimmy lost his life last week after crashing into Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) and Dawn Taylor’s (Olivia Bromley) wedding marquee. The injuries that Jimmy sustained were too severe, which meant he died before the emergency services arrived.

In the initial aftermath, as Nicola tried to get her head around the fact her husband was no longer here, small mysteries began to surface. It became clear that Jimmy had been keeping a number of secrets from Nicola – and the reason for his behaviour was explained yesterday.

Jimmy’s ex (well, kind of), Sadie King (Patsy Kensit) returned to the village via helicopter and revealed that she was in a relationship with Jimmy for three years.

It wasn’t surprising that Nicola didn’t believe schemer Sadie, but the iconic face dropped more revelations in today’s episode that left Nicola with the horrifying realisation that she was telling the truth.

Sadie shared that Jimmy told her that he had split up with Nicola after having an affair. Believing that Nicola was living in Hotten, Sadie had no reason to wonder if Jimmy was keeping any secrets from her.

Nicola and Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) refused to believe her, but Sadie then revealed pieces of information about children Elliot, Angel and Carl that Jimmy would’ve told her in private conversations. Sadie even went as far as showing Nicola and Laurel a number of pictures she had taken with Jimmy.

With reality hitting her that her husband really was living a double life, Nicola hit the drink.

She was interrupted by Kev Barton (Chris Coghill), who had arrived in search of a phone number for a maintenance chap called Tony Toasties.

Nicola grabbed more alcohol, and Kev wasn’t going to say no to a glass. As he sat and listened, Nicola ranted to Kev about her marriage being a total con.

She then reached for her phone and decided to download a dating app. Kev snatched the device from her hands, stating that she’d just be making a big mistake sleeping with a random guy.

Kev listened to Nicola. He was kind to her, but Nicola’s emotional, drunken state meant she interpreted the situation the wrong way. She leaned in to kiss Kev, and then couldn’t believe what she had done after.

Even though the kiss happened when Nicola wasn’t thinking straight, that hasn’t stopped fans of the ITV soap taking to social media to share that they might be here for more Nicola and Kev.
