Heavy rain and strong winds will dominate Thursday, as Met Éireann says highs of between 16C to 19C are expected.
Even though the day will start bright, wet conditions will continue through the day into the night, with lows of 11C to 13C.
Friday will see a mixed day of showers and sunny spells, with showers then becoming more isolated through the afternoon. Highs of 15C to 17C are expected through the day.
It will be dry for most of Friday night with clear spells and isolated showers affecting the west-northwest coastal regions. Temperatures will reach as low as 9C.
Traffic
On the N28, traffic has started to build up at Carrs Hill as of 7 am.
Parts of the N40 and the N27 are also starting to see some build-up.
Outlook
Looking into the weekend, Saturday will turn wet and breezy through the afternoon after a mostly dry start.
“While there is uncertainty in the detail, current indications are for the heaviest and most persistent rain in the west and north,” Met Éireann said. Highs of 16C to 19C are expected.
Rain and drizzle will clear on Saturday night for drier and cloudy conditions. It will be mild with lows of 13C to 16C.
Sunday will be wet and breezy with showery spells of rain becoming widespread through the afternoon. Highs of 18C to 22C are expected.
Looking into next week, Monday will see scattered showers spread eastward through the morning, before more persistent rain comes in from the southwest and spreads through the country. Highs of 15C to 19C are in store, with the warmest in the south.
Tuesday will feel crisp and breezy with scattered showers from the northwest.
