DANA WHITE has opened the door to introducing a new belt into the UFC fold.
Mixed martial arts‘ top promotion, which will celebrate its 33rd anniversary in November, currently has 13 belts in rotation.

Twelve of those are championship titles across the promotion’s male and female weight classes.
The 13th belt in rotation is the BMF (Baddest Motherf***er) title.
The title was a creation of MMA fan favourite Nate Diaz in the summer of 2019 and was adopted by the promotion a few months later.
Diaz fought Jorge Masvidal in the inaugural BMF bout at Madison Square Garden in November 2019 but lost it via third-round doctor stoppage.

There have been a further four BMF bouts since Diaz and Masvidal’s MSG melee, the most recent of which took place in March and saw Charles Oliveira grapple the belt away from Max Holloway at UFC 326.
BMF bouts have, so far, only been comprised of male fights.
But nearly seven years after its inception, White and the rest of the UFC brass are open to the idea of introducing a female equivalent.

When asked about a women’s BMF belt potentially being thrown into the mix, White said: “Yeah, anything is possible.

One thing White, however, is dead set against is adding an atomweight division for women to compete in.
When asked about a 105lbs division being introduced, he replied: “No.”
He added: “It’s the same answer as the expansion of the men’s weight.
“165lbs is too much, it screws up the other two divisions.
” Listen, if there was a need for it and we thought it would work, we would have done it already.”
