“Tears are useless in front of me,” a judge has told a man who appeared before her in custody after being charged following a motorway incident on Monday.
Costica Muntean (27), Duiche Roden, Demesne Road, Dundalk, was arrested at 11.28pm on August 31 last and charged at 3am the next day.
The prosecuting garda said that he made no reply after caution.
The defendant is accused of, on September 1 at Drogheda Garda Station, refusing to provide a specimen of his blood to a designated doctor, and, at M1 Oldbridge, Drogheda, failing to give a garda his name, address and date of birth.
The garda continued that he discovered there were two bench warrants in existence for Mr Muntean.
He failed to appear at Gort Courthouse on May 28 last on a charge of stealing a €20 note, the property of Circle K, at Circle K, Crowe Street, Gort, Co. Galway, on January 24, 2026.
Another warrant issued when he didn’t turn up at Kilkenny Courthouse on June 9 last, accused of driving with neither licence nor insurance at Castlecomer Road, Kilkenny, on January 28, 2026.
“I have two small babies waiting for me,” Mr Muntean told Dundalk Court on Tuesday.
“Don’t cry in front of me. I’m not the person to be crying in front of,” Judge Nicola Andrews said.
He was granted bail in his own bond on the new sheets, and warned by the judge to be in Drogheda Court on September 7 next.
He was also bailed on the other matters to Kilkenny on September 15 and Gort on September 24.
“Thank you so much,” the accused said.
“The tears are useless in front of me,” Judge Andrews told him.
