PETER Llewellyn-Jones, best known for playing Mr Grimley in The Riddlers, has died aged 76.
The Kids TV show actor was also known for his tireless advocacy and education for the British Deaf community.
In The Riddlers he played Marjorie’s neighbour Mr Montgomery Lancelot Grimley.
He also appeared in Insight a series of short documentaries for deaf and hard of hearing children.
The British Deaf Association has paid tribute to the author, a spokesperson said: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Peter Llewellyn-Jones.
“A respected BSL advocate, interpreter, educator and ally, Peter devoted more than 50 years to supporting Deaf people and championing BSL.
“His legacy will never be forgotten. Rest in peace.”
The actor later worked with the University of Lancashire.
He made many respected contributions to the British Deaf community in theory and in practice through interpreter training.
Fans and pupils of Mr Llewellyn-Jones took to social media to pay tribute.

“I feel so privileged to have known PLJ. Such a wonderful man! Rip in peace.”
