She’s been an astronaut, a showgirl, a surgeon, and a business exec, and she lives in a dream house.
But underneath it all, Barbie is just like us – especially when it comes to the weekly shop.
The iconic character has officially been revealed as an Aldi customer (sorry M&S), with the release of a brand new toy.
Mattel has teamed up with the budget retailer to release a Barbie Aldimania Dreamland Doll, which will be a Specialbuy in stores.
The new doll sees Barbie getting an Aldi-themed makeover, with a bright pink dress covered in the brand logo.
Naturally, the Barbie also comes equipped with accessories – including a matching pink Aldi-branded visor, Aldi sliders and sunglasses, plus a shopping trolley, groceries (including a croissant) and some middle aisle finds – like table tennis rackets and a water bottle.
There are also stickers, with some featuring Aldi designs, that you could use to decorate Barbie’s shopping bag.
Barbie Aldimania Dreamland will be available to purchase in Aldi stores across the UK from September 6, priced at £12.99 each.
As with all Specialbuys, it’s a limited-edition item and only available while stocks last – so once it’s gone, it’s gone.
Shoppers in Barnet will also be in for an extra treat if they visit the store this week, as the branch is being turned pink to celebrate the occasion, with the iconic logo temporarily being replaced with a pink one outside.
Speaking about the launch, Julie Ashfield, Aldi’s chief commercial officer, said: ‘A new doll has entered the Dreamhouse! What better way to celebrate the launch of our very own Barbie Aldimania Dreamland Doll than with a Barbie pink takeover of our Barnet store in London.
‘We’re excited to see the doll hit the shelves and bring a little extra joy to collectors, shoppers and Barbie fans across the country.’
