A Meath based construction firm has been given the green light to build over 70 new homes on the outskirts of Mullingar.
Lacken Ventures Ltd tabled plans with local authority officials last November to add 58 houses to the midlands town property supply at a site located at Charlestown.
The finer points of the proposed development include designs for 43 houses, encompassing three bedrooms each.
Fifteen larger four bedroom homes are also provided for alongside 16 apartments comprising six single bedroom residences and 10 larger two bedroom equivalents.
A community amenity space, specifically geared for the apartment-led strand of the development is included as well as over 100 car parking spaces for 52 of the planned houses, 32 grouped spaces and six visitor spaces for 22 of the proposed homes.
A much more expansive public open space, spanning over 3,800 sq m has likewise been pencilled in which also entails a children’s play area.
To boost the development’s connectivity, new vehicle, pedestrian and cyclist access had been built into the plans from the existing R390.
The development’s proximity to the Royal Canal has similarly seen Lacken Ventures provide for pedestrian and cyclist pathways to the southern boundary of the site.
Westmeath County Council has since granted planning permission to Lacken Ventures subject to 23 conditions.
