Bree Vintage Club Run
Bree Vintage Club annual road run will take place on Sunday 20th September. Registration from 11.30am, leaving Byrne’s Grain Yard at 1pm. Proceeds in aid of Parkinson Wexford Branch.
Bree Baby & Toddler Group
Bree Baby and Toddler group has resumed on Thursdays at 10.30am in Bree Hall. Admission is €2 per family. Look forward to seeing some old and new faces.
Bree Macra
Congratulations to the Bree Macra Know Your Ag Quiz team of Barry Murphy, Kieran Banville, Gary Murphy and David Finn, who won the county final of the Ag Quiz recently. The team will represent Wexford at the All-Ireland Final at the Macra Rally in October.
Clothes recycling bins removed
All clothes recycling bins have been removed from Bree Community Centre. Clothes can be recycled at local charity shops or local Recycling Centres.
Tennis Coaching Courses
Children’s and Adult Tennis Coaching Courses begin from week beginning 14th September on a weekly basis for 6 weeks at Bree Community Centre Tennis Courts.

Bree Hall Library
All books have been replaced in the Community Centre Library. Hall is open on most days, except Sundays, from 9pm to 4.30pm. Donations of books can be left in at the library at any stage and are most welcome.

Clonard Bethany Bereavement Support
Have you experienced loss? There is a Drop-in Service on the 2nd Friday of every month in the Shamrock Room of Clonard Community Centre from 7.30pm to 8.30pm.
Next Drop-In Service takes place on Friday 11th September. Feel free to drop in for a cuppa and a chat. All are welcome. This service is supported by trained volunteers.

Our Lady’s Island – Many people make their way to Our Lady’s Island each year to pray and experience the beauty of the Island which has been a place of pilgrimage for many centuries.
The Clonard Parish Pilgrimage to Our Lady’s Island is an important annual time of prayer for the whole Parish. Please come and join us on the Island on Monday 7th September. Please gather at the entrance to Our Lady’s Island Parish Church, where the Procession around the Island will begin at 6.00pm followed by Mass at 7.30pm.
Knock Pilgrimage – The Knock Pilgrimage in honour of the Holy Face of Jesus is on Saturday 12th September. 2pm: Adoration in The Blessed Sacrament Chapel. 4pm: Holy Mass in Parish Church. CROSSABEG
Development Lotto
Crossabeg/Ballymurn GAA Lotto numbers for August 26th. The numbers drawn were 7, 11,15 & 23. There was no Jackpot winner. Two match 3 winners, who each received €50 were Michael Cummins and Marie Murphy-Quigley. The next draw takes place on September 2nd and the Jackpot stands at €12,000.
Farewell to Fr. Gahan, P.P.
Fr. Dermot Gahan’s tenure as Parish Priest in Crossabeg (as well as Oylegate and Glenbrien) came to an end last weekend as he bade goodbye to parishioners after the 11.30am Mass in Crossabeg church on Sunday last.
During his time here, he always made himself available to anyone who needed his help or advice despite his busy schedule, and was just a phone call away if needed. He thanked everyone for their support and friendship during his time in Crossabeg. Parish Priest in the area for close on 2 years, he will take up his new appointment in the Carnew/Tomacork/Shillelagh/Coolafancy District.
Following refreshments in the Parochial House, once again he was greeted by a warm round of applause and wished well for the future.
Marathon Challenge
St. Killians senior athlete, Padraig Moriarty will take on the remarkable challenge of running a full marathon around the community field in Crossabeg on Saturday next, Sepember 8th, raising funds in support of Crossabeg/Ballymurn GAA Club. Padraig gets his run underway at 10am and it would be fantastic to see plenty of support from the local running community and beyond as he takes on this challenge. We wish him well.
Athletics
St. Killians Club was well represented at the recent Oylegate Half-Marathon and 10K with Brian O’Shaughnessy and Padraig Moriarty both putting in excellent performances. Brian has enjoyed a busy summer competing in the Slaney Olympic Summer race series in Ardcavan and he continued his fine form on Sunday too with a superb run in the 20K, finishing 4th overall in 39.55. Former Killian’s Chairman Padraig Moriarty was back on the racing scene recently. He had a fantastic run a couple of weeks ago in the St. Joseph’s Athletic Club ‘Pink Rock’ run in New Ross, completing the 10K in 41.52 and winning his category. He stepped up to the Half Marathon with another impressive performance, powering home in 1.33.55 to finish 25th overall and take another category victory.
Niall Sheil has also enjoyed a busy summer supporting the Slaney Olympic Summer Race series and taking overall victories in both the recent Monageer 5K and Ballindaggin 6K race. Katrin Gruhl was St. Killian’s only representative on the second day of the County Track & Field Championships. Competing in the Javelin, she produced an excellent performance placing 2nd in both the Senior competition and her in her own category.

Fr. John
A huge turnout from across the community and beyond was present for Fr John’s farewell Mass which took place last Friday in Barntown church. The ceremony was followed refreshments in the school hall.
Fr. John has been such an important part of the Glynn/Barntown community for close to 20 years and has always been there for everyone, in the good times and especially in the difficult times.
Thank you, Fr John, for your dedication, friendship, kindness and service to the community over the years. Our parish will certainly be a different place without you. Wishing you every happiness and success in your new appointment in New Ross. You will be sorely missed.
