Savage footage shows the dad being thrown to the ground and repeatedly punched in the face as bystanders scramble to intervene at Wollert Secondary College.

A staff member can be seen trying to break up the fight, while other students shout and run around the pair filming the wild confrontation.

A small child with a pink backpack watches in horror.

The violent brawl unfolded on Monday August 24, when the dad approached a group of students he believed had been bullying his daughter, the Herald Sun reported.

However, it is understood the father mistakenly accused the wrong student.

Faced with these false bullying allegations, the innocent boy reportedly turned his fury on the father.

Australian media widely reports the student involved as being trained in mixed martial arts, but that has not been confirmed.

The shocking video shows a bystander also get caught in the crossfire and is slammed against a fence.

When a teacher on duty finally separated the pair, the action spills out onto the roadside where it continues.

Another video shows fury between the two erupting once more at a bus stop.

Police responded to the incident on the day but no official complaint was made.

Education campaigners say the Victorian school system needs urgent overhaul.

Education expert Adam Voight of Real Schools said: “This is an example of a culture where we’ve become so adversarial, we’ve become so determined to get our own way, we’ve become so determined that vengeance is the only right here, that we’ve stopped learning how to collaborate as an instinct.

“We need to remember how we build good young people, and we need to remember that a lot of that is tied to the example that we’ve set them.”

A Department of Education spokesman said the school “is committed to a safe and supportive culture for all staff and students”.

The spokesman said: “Any form of violence or bullying at any school is unacceptable and the school takes immediate and appropriate disciplinary action where required.”
