A recent bike run that was held in honour of a Wexford woman with a love for the biking community raised over €4,500 for charity.
Laura Anderson of Castledockrell sadly passed away last year on Saturday, April 26 and was a much loved family member as well as a bike enthusiast within the biking community.
Laura was held in high esteem in the biking community and this was seen by the large crowd of bikers who arrived outside the church where her funeral was taking place to form a guard of honour, following a successful social media appeal.
Last year her brother Graham and family organised a memorial bike run that raised over €4,250 for Breast Cancer Ireland.
Over 80 bikers from across the country turned out the show support and participate in the 90 minute run, including; the South East Bikers, the South Dublin Bikers, the Kilkenny Bikers, and individual bikers from all parts.
This year the event, organised by David Dagg, took place on Saturday, August 22, and also included live music from Triona Murphy and Adrian Ryan and Well Dressed and Skanger Quigley., as well as a disco bar, hot food and refreshments, a bouncy castle for the children, and raffle prizes.
Her brother Graham Anderson was pleased to reveal that thanks to the support of the community, they managed to raise €4,562.45 for the Breast Cancer Ireland.
He explained that it was a massive team effort across a number of fundraising drives with Lisa and Bernie raising €1,073.50 by selling raffle tickets outside Texaco Bunclody.
He said they were also grateful to Hasib Dragidella and the staff in Red Car Walsh, Bunclody who donated 100 pc of their earnings on Saturday, August 15 which amassed to €1,193.50.
A further €790 was raised by Graham through a Facebook raffle, and the remaining €1,505.45 was raised through donation buckets on the day of the bike run outside Jordan’s of Ballindaggin.
