CHELSEA have reportedly been dealt a double transfer blow after they saw bids for two midfield targets rejected.

The Blues are on the verge of selling Enzo Fernandez for a British transfer record fee of £125million.

But club transfer chiefs have pushed to sign a late replacement for the Argentine.

A £38.5m bid for Monaco’s Lamine Camara was submitted before a second offer of £50m was also rejected, according to RMC Sport.

Meanwhile, Fabrice Hawkins adds another target in Roma‘s Manu Kone is also staying put where he is.

And SunSport understands Chelsea are now unlikely to sign a replacement for Fernandez.

Man City agree British record £125million Enzo Fernandez transfer

The 25-year-old broke the British transfer record when he arrived in London from Benfica in a £106m deal in January 2023.

But now he is set to reunite with former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who succeeded Pep Guardiola, at the Etihad.

And the fee the Manchester-based club are paying to prise him away from Chelsea is equal to what Liverpool paid Newcastle for Alexander Isak a year ago.

Fernandez has pushed to leave Stamford Bridge since March, and did not feature in the club’s wins over Luton in the League Cup or the Brighton win last weekend under Xabi Alonso.

Chelsea had expected him to stay after receiving no bids on their asking price of £120m before a self-imposed August 14 deadline.

However, deadline day madness has now seen City finally move to complete a deal £5m above the original asking price.

Chelsea had put together a five-man shortlist to replace Fernandez, but have thus far found no luck in acquiring any.

As well as moves for Camara and Kone, an approach for Arsenal’s Martin Zubimendi was knocked back, while a deal for Bournemouth’s Alex Scott has also been explored.
