Gillian Anderson’s highly anticipated ‘More’ is finally here, detailing more wild and wonderful sexual fantasies of women all over the world.

But, it’s not humans that are the subject of their heated desires. Multiple women express their fantasy involves being penetrated by large tentacles or the thick body of a snake.

‘[I’m] is being wrapped in the powerful tentacles of an octopus so huge it dwarfs [me]…’ wrote one woman in her late 40s. ‘The tentacles are muscular, pinning [me] down as they bend around…

‘The writhing tips of tentacles prise their way into my mouth… Every part of me invaded by their fluid, muscular strength until, obliterated by sea-scented orgasm, there is no “me” left at all.’

Another married woman shared: ‘I have many non-human fantasies. One of my favourites is of a huge, muscular snake… filling me with its pulsating sexy energy… The snake moved deeper in my by rippling its muscles so that it expands in me.’

Known simply as ‘tentacle porn‘, sex expert Gigi Engle tells Metro these fantasies would be categorised as a ‘niche play fetish’. That said, one sex subReddit for tentacle porn ‘Tentai’ has 516,000 members and counting.

Tentacles also come under the broader umbrella of hentai, which is essentially sexually explicit anime, which features a lot of non-human creatures.

‘It’s very popular in Asia, specifically Japan, but we’ve been fantasising about sea creatures since The Odyssey,’ Gigi says. ‘The sexual fascination with the sea and sea creatures is very old.’

Why are people turned on by tentacles?

The sales of tentacle dildos have become the UK’s fastest growing category, according to fantasy sex toy brand Dragon Dildo, rising noticeably from 2024.

Kraken dildos were the most purchased in Glasgow and Birmingham, with residents looking to pleasure themselves on a large tentacle, suckers and all.

They were also popular in Bristol and Leeds, while Nottingham residents commonly purchased a tentacle toy designed for anal sex, according to sex toy site Odyssey.

But, why are tentacles so appealing? Gigi says there’s a power play element, where clients often imagine themselves being overpowered and dominated by a sea creature.

‘There’s also a sensory element,’ she says. ‘The slithery-ness of it, the pointed tip of it, which can be arousing.

‘When talking about creature play in general, big foot is another example, it’s mainly about being dominated by this lustful untethered creature and being overpowered as if they have to have you.’

How to put it into practice

Purchasing a tentacle dildo from brands like Bad Dragon or Odyssey could be a good place to start, but, like the women in ‘More’ you need to get creative.

‘If you really want to get into that fantasy element, the person playing the tentacles can blindfold the submissive partner and put monster sounds on Spotify to create the fantasy,’ Gigi says.

‘You can even have an abduction fantasy where you’ve been stolen away into the sea or alien spaceship. It might sound silly and awkward but sex is how adults play.’

The only risk Gigi points out is that tentacle dildos can often be quite large in size. For example, Dragon Dildo’s Octopus Tentacle Dildo measures at 23.5cm long and 7.5cm wide.

Another tentacle dildo on offer measures in at a blinding 65cm in length, so you do need to be careful about how much you insert.

‘You need to be careful when using them and make sure everyone is fully aroused, and there’s proper lubrication,’ Gigi adds.

But other than that, the sex expert thinks it’s a fun fetish to try out with or without a partner.

‘Humans are really creative and can come up with wild scenarios and eroticise them, so live your best life,’ she says.
